A Short History
Around
1990 a handful of artists began gravitating to one of the many
retired shoe factories in the area south of Boston, Massachusetts.
One by one they tucked into whatever nook or cranny was available
in the F.L. & J.C. Codman building on Plain Street, (Route 139)
in Rockland, Massachusetts. Over the years they expanded to all the floors, grew to over 100 artists and formed a group called the 4th floor artists.
In 2006, the building was purched by a developer and work began on the building in June of 2007. The artists dispersed and a small group found spaces in the E.T. Wright Building
And the American Sandpaper Factory in Rockland, Massachusetts.

Reorganization of the group began in September of 2007 and we are now starting to grow again.
